There are over 2.5 million widows in Afghanistan who need your support to protect themselves and their children.
Orphan Sponsorship Scheme
SPONSOR A WAR WIDOW
Over 2.5 million women in Afghanistan have been widowed by the war. Help us rebuild their lives with new homes, medical aid, and access to education.
Four decades of conflict in Afghanistan have widowed over 2.5 million women. They were left displaced, illiterate, and facing severe PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) from living in a war zone.
Most of these women were forced by dire circumstances to marry young and have children, only to remain the sole breadwinners of the family after their husbands’ death.
Sometimes, the pressure of putting food on the table is so big, that mothers fear they might have to send their children to work, since they can’t earn enough to feed everyone. We can’t let this happen! At Aryana Aid, we believe Afghan widows deserve the dignity of raising their children with ease. How You Can Help
Our Beloved Prophet (pbuh) teaches us that “a giver of maintenance to the widows and the poor is like a giver in the way of Allah (swt), an utterer of prayers all night and fasting during the day” (Bukhari). And just like our Prophet (pbuh) advises, we wish to create a better and safer environment for widows in Afghanistan.
To help us achieve this dream, you can sponsor a widow with Sadaqah Jariyah. Your gift will provide our widows with the support they need to train, learn new skills and become independent by securing a stable job in their own community.Remember that, when you give Sadaqah Jariyah, you are also the beneficiary of this special act of love for Allah (swt) – in this life and the Hereafter!
What We Do at Aryana Aid
We have been supporting displaced families, widows and orphans since 2009. Thanks to your generous Sadaqah and Zakat, last year only we have helped 35 widows through our Women Empowerment Scheme and provided another 20 widows with new homes, food, medical assistance and hope for their children’s future.
The money you give goes towards individual and community development. We provide counselling, vocational training, halfway houses, and empowering prospects. We can’t give them back their past, but we can give them a better future.
SPONSOR A WIDOW WITH ZAKAT
Although your Zakat can be paid at any time, your Nisab should be calculated on a fixed date each year. Use our online Zakat calculator to help you through the process.

“I am a widow and I have five daughters and three sons who depend on me for everything since my husband passed away.”
“The situation in Afghanistan is very bad and the recession has made things worse, as there are fewer jobs now than there were before.”
“Although there is some support available for women like me, the agencies were unable to help me when I approached them. I felt that they didn’t really care about me because of the huge number of other cases they had to deal with, and I became very depressed and anxious about my children.”
“Things started to change when I was offered a place at the Aryana Aid Training Centre.”
“The charity is helping me develop new skills so that I can find work and it is also helping my children, who now go to school.”
