FOOD PARCELS FOR WAR SURVIVORS

Help us save the 600,000 children who will die of malnutrition if we don’t act now. Your food donations are vital to our malnourished men, women, and children, already mistreated by decades of war.

Afghan children under 5 have one of the highest rates of malnourishment in the world:

  • 72% suffer from key micro-nutrient deficiency.
  • 54% are chronically malnourished.
  • 34% are underweight.

Wages of ordinary Afghans no longer cover essential food items, and the problem is even worse for those living in rural areas. The fact that Afghanistan’s economy still relies on opium production means local farmers have little incentive to produce more food since they are more likely to make a living from opium trade than agriculture.

Feed a Poor Afghan in the Name of Allah (SWT)

“And they give food, out of love for Him, to the poor and the orphan and the captive, [saying] “We feed you, for Allah’s pleasure only — We desire from you neither reward nor thanks. Surely we fear from our Lord a stern, distressful day” (Qur’an, 76:5-12).

Three consecutive years of drought and economic issues have left approximately 5 million Afghans with little or no access to food. But, with the will of Allah (swt), we have put your Zakat and Sadaqah donations to good use – our team have been supplying emergency food packs to the poor and hungry in Afghanistan since 2009.

Aryana Aid have been providing locally sourced rice, flour, tea, sugar, cooking oil and meat to the most vulnerable Muslim communities in the region. Last year, we distributed food to 585 families in need through our Ramadan and Food Distribution projects.

Your donations ensure we can continue to feed these families, so they can regain their powers, revive their cultures and, in time, stop resorting to illegal or dangerous activities in order to earn a livelihood.

Spread the word on our Food Distribution Project and other Zakat eligible projects.

Abdullah’s Story:

“The food shortage in Afghanistan is hurting the weak and vulnerable”, explains Abdullah, business owner and volunteer at Aryana Aid.

“I volunteered with the WHO (World Health Organisation) before I joined Aryana Aid, (remove comma) and witnessed first-hand the impact of the rising food prices on the health of ordinary Afghans.”

“Aryana Aid works closely with local people to address the worse cases of malnutrition in the community. We also buy food from local vendors to keep down our costs and boost the local trade.”
