Ramadan 2024

We wish you a blessed Ramadan, filled with peace and closeness to Allah (SWT). Let’s make this month a good one for ourselves and our brothers and sisters in need.

Help Afghans living in crisis this Ramadan.

11 million Afghans are facing extreme food poverty. Drought, conflict and political instability have forced families from their homes. Many have left their villages with nothing. Another half a million refugees expelled from Pakistan are living in border camps waiting to be repatriated. They are without shelter and basic needs. Can you help?

After four decades of war and too many natural disasters including the earthquake last year, Afghanistan is in ruins. Hundreds of communities have been uprooted, and millions of widows and orphans struggle daily to find food and water.

“Whoever fulfilled the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfil his needs; whoever brought his [Muslim] brother out of a discomfort, Allah will bring him out of the discomforts of the Day of Resurrection […].” (Bukhari)

Every Ramadan, your donations help us feed and uplift people living in extreme poverty. This Ramadan, your support will save people who continue to rely on us. Here are some of the ways you can help them.

Give Food: With the current crisis Afghans are facing, many people will start and end their fasts hungry this Ramadan. Can you help by donating essential Iftar packs and warm meals? With the cost of food always rising in the lead-up to Ramadan, our food project prices reflect this.

Give Safe Drinking Water: Too many families in Afghanistan have no access to a clean water source and have to travel far to fetch water for drinking and ablution. This Ramadan, you can help ease their suffering by donating towards building wells and hand pumps. Building a water source is Sadaqah Jariyah, allowing you to reap the rewards of your charity for as long as people benefit from it.

At Aryana Aid, we accept Fidyah and Kaffarah payments and use them to feed families living in extreme poverty. So, what are Fidyah and Kaffarah?

‘Whoever feeds a person breaking his fast will earn the same reward as him, without anything being lessened from the reward of the fasting person’. (Tirmidhi)

Fasting is compulsory during Ramadan. Muslims who fail to keep the Ramadan fast have to pay compensation in the form of either Fidyah or Kaffarah. You can read more about both and how they differ, here

Our Fitrana must reach needy Muslims before the Eid Prayer so they can also enjoy their Eid with a hearty meal. Pay yours now.

About Ramadan

Ramadan is a time when Muslims focus their energy on their relationship with Allah (SWT), through intensive worship, and abstinence from food and water during the daytime. Ramadan is a gift – a month when Allah (SWT) showers His mercy and blessings upon us and multiplies our rewards.

Ibn ’Abbas said, “Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) was the most generous of people in charity, but he was generous to the utmost in the month of Ramadan. Jibril (AS) would meet him every year during the month of Ramadan until it ended, and Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) recited to him the Qur’an; and when Jibril (AS) met him, Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) was more generous in giving charity than the blowing wind.” (Muslim)

Ramadan is also a month that celebrates community and compassion. Through abstinence, we feel the plight of those less fortunate, for whom hunger and thirst are a reality. And our support of the needy, through Sadaqah and Zakat is rewarded by Allah (SWT) exponentially during this blessed month.
