Ramadan 2026, Share the Blessings

As the blessed month of Ramadan arrives once again, it brings a time of reflection, compassion, and closeness to Allah (SWT). While many prepare for a month of fasting and worship, families across Afghanistan continue to live with daily hardship shaped by war, displacement, and poverty.

This Ramadan offers an opportunity to respond with sincere giving that brings relief, stability, and reassurance to those who need it most.

Allah (SWT) says:
“And whatever good you put forward, Allah is fully aware of it.” (Surah Al Baqarah, 2:110)

Humanitarian Needs

An estimated 22.9 million people in Afghanistan require humanitarian assistance, representing more than half of the population, and 12 million children face severe hunger. Years of conflict, environmental disasters, and the displacement of 5.8 million Afghan refugees have left countless families struggling to survive.

Many have been forced to flee their homes due to drought and violence, often leaving with nothing to rely on and little certainty about the future.

Through the support of donors, meaningful progress has already been achieved:

  • 480 families received Ramadan food packs last year
  • 500 families are supported through monthly food packs, providing regular nourishment
  • 5,800 families received fresh meat through the Qurbani Project

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

“Whoever eases the hardship of a believer, Allah will ease his hardship on the Day of Resurrection.” (Bukhari)

Mariam’s Journey, Finding Hope in Ramadan

Mariam is a widow and mother of three from Ghazni. After losing her husband during the war, she was left to care for her children alone with no stable income. Meeting even the most basic needs became an overwhelming challenge.

This Ramadan, your support continues to bring balance and stability to her household:

  • Mariam is among 35 widows who joined the Widow Skill Development Programme and, within one year, was able to establish a small handicraft business
  • Her income now supports her household and allows her to send her children to school regularly
  • Her family benefits from access to clean water through one of the water wells and pumps funded by Aryana Aid

Today, Mariam and her children are able to observe Ramadan without constant anxiety over their basic needs.

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

“The one who supports a widow or a poor person is like one who strives in the path of Allah.” (Bukhari)

How You Can Help

Give Safe Drinking Water

In remote areas of Afghanistan, access to safe drinking water remains limited. Families often travel long distances to collect water, placing additional strain on daily life.

Jabar Khail’s Story

Jabar Khail, a father of four, recalls the daily struggle of travelling long distances to collect water from shared sources used by animals. These long trips to unclean water often caused sickness among his children and left little time for work.

With the construction of a community well funded by donors, clean water is now nearby. This has allowed him to care for his children’s health and focus on earning an income to support his family.

Many families continue to face similar challenges and depend on ongoing support.

Amir’s Story

Amir is an 8-year-old boy from Kabul who lost both parents in a bomb blast when he was just 4 years old. Left alone, he survived on the streets until Aryana Aid found him and brought him into their orphan programme.

Today, Amir receives meals, clothing, healthcare, and schooling. He hopes to one day become an engineer and help rebuild his country. Your support has given him not only stability, but a sense of family and a future.
