Humanitarian Needs
An estimated 22.9 million people in Afghanistan require humanitarian assistance, representing more than half of the population, and 12 million children face severe hunger. Years of conflict, environmental disasters, and the displacement of 5.8 million Afghan refugees have left countless families struggling to survive.
Many have been forced to flee their homes due to drought and violence, often leaving with nothing to rely on and little certainty about the future.
Through the support of donors, meaningful progress has already been achieved:
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
“Whoever eases the hardship of a believer, Allah will ease his hardship on the Day of Resurrection.” (Bukhari)
Mariam’s Journey Finding Hope in Ramadan
Mariam is a widow and mother of three from Ghazni. After losing her husband during the war, she was left to care for her children alone with no stable income. Meeting even the most basic needs became an overwhelming challenge.
This Ramadan, your support continues to bring balance and stability to her household:
Today, Mariam and her children are able to observe Ramadan without constant anxiety over their basic needs.
“The one who supports a widow or a poor person is like one who strives in the path of Allah.” (Bukhari)

Water and Sanitation ProjectA Sustainable Gift for Communities
Access to clean water is not only a basic human necessity but also a source of lasting benefit for communities.Generosity in Water:“Whoever gives water to a thirsty person, Allah will give them a reward in Paradise.” (Sunan Ibn Majah)Water projects represent one of the most enduring forms of charitable impact, providing benefits that extend far beyond the immediate moment.
In many rural areas of Afghanistan, the absence of safe and reliable water sources has severe consequences. Families face lost income, wasted time, and increased vulnerability to disease. Children, in particular, are disproportionately affected, with water-borne illnesses contributing significantly to preventable morbidity and mortality.
Aryana Aid is committed to addressing this critical challenge. Through its Water and Sanitation Program, the organisation drills and installs sustainable water well systems and delivery infrastructure that serve communities for years to come. These projects ensure that thousands of people gain safe, reliable, and accessible water, improving health outcomes, convenience, and overall quality of life.
The programme provides:
Through this initiative, Aryana Aid not only transforms daily life but also contributes to the long-term resilience and well-being of the communities, making water a true gift that keeps giving.
Jabar Khail’s Story
Jabar Khail, a father of four, recalls the daily struggle of travelling long distances to collect water from shared sources used by animals. These long trips to unclean water often caused sickness among his children and left little time for work.
With the construction of a community well funded by donors, clean water is now nearby. This has allowed him to care for his children’s health and focus on earning an income to support his family.
Many families continue to face similar challenges and depend on ongoing support.

Amir’s Story
Amir is an 8-year-old boy from Kabul who lost both parents in a bomb blast when he was just 4 years old. Left alone, he survived on the streets until Aryana Aid found him and brought him into their orphan programme.
Today, Amir receives meals, clothing, healthcare, and schooling. He hopes to one day become an engineer and help rebuild his country. Your support has given him not only stability, but a sense of family and a future.
